2012 Nissan Maxima or 2015 Kia Optima?
Friend wants a new sports sedan and can’t decide. I said the Optima because I like what Kia is doing right now. Maxima is probably more fun though. What do you think?
The cars are too damn large

Optima, maxima seems too old. Also, is a new maxima out of the question ?

Optima. I’ve recently sat in one out of curiosity and I’d drive that around without regrets.

Optima. 10 year warranty, no CVT, plenty of power (in some models). No brainier.

The Kia is a hot looking machine. The Maxima seems a bit dated in comparison. I bet you’ll get a better deal on the Nissan though.

No brainer. Optima. Then get vanity plates that say "PRIME"

Exactly. What’s sporty about these cars? They seem like sensible and comfy cruisers to me.

What lead to it being narrowed down to these two?

There is no sport in either. Kia will depreciate crazy fast. Should buy the Kia used.

The Maxima isn’t as fun as you’d think. If those are the choices, go with the Kia and get the better warranty.

If it's used its only a 5 year 60k warranty.

KIA, all day. More bang for your bucks.
As Jordan, the Showrunner has suggested, really should consider a Mazda 6.

Kia. My dad owns a 2014 with over 20k on the odo and hasn’t had a single problem.

I’ve put some seat time in the Kia, it’s not a bad car. I rather liked it. That said, get a Mazda6.

Optima. Every Nissan product seems to be made so cheaply, we had one as a rental car in NY and it was dreadful, noisy, underpowered, made with cheap materials.

It should still have the balance of the 10 year warranty. My 2013 does.

This is what she calls sporty. She's not a huge car person she just wants a comfy sedan with decent power and that's sports for her.

Did you buy it CPO? If you bought it used and not CPO, I hate to burst your bubble, but it only has a 5/60k warranty.

I’ve had 2 different Kia dealers confirm that it does, but I’ll check again.
